With the Puma Future Rider in Malibu
If you Masha and follow me on Instagram will have noticed that we were at ComplexCon in Long Beach at the beginning of November with PUMA and the new FUTURE RIDER. The release for the "Ride on" colorway presented here is already this week, so it's about time to tell you a bit about our trip.
YOU CAN FIND THE PUMA FUTURE RIDER IN THE CALENDAR HERE!
The trade fair was really exciting overall and for me it was absolutely amazing to see celebrities such as Lil' Yachty, part of the Migos gang and Pharrell Williams on site. Masha was of course also very happy to see her secret crush Takashi Murakami, for whom ComplexCon is always a real showcase. Fortunately, the man is already very old and I don't have to worry about the two of them eloping at some point (?)!
In summary, ComplexCon was definitely a great event, which I like to compare with Cologne GamesCon in terms of size and all the trappings. Just for sneakers and other hypestuff. The PUMA stand was also really successful and was really crowded due to the newly introduced RIDER silhouettes and the collaboration with Chinatown Market.
Masha and I then extended our trip for a few more days and - as in April - hung around the Los Angeles area. Among other things, we went to El Matador Beach in Malibu, where we were able to shoot the new FUTURE RIDER from PUMA during "Golden Hour", which will be released on Saturday night.
The El Matador Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Malibu and offers a fantastic view over the sea. So it's not really surprising that a few other creative people have been hanging around El Matador to take some great shots of the scenery, just like us. So if you're ever in the area, I recommend a quick detour to El Matador. It's well worth it!
About the PUMA FUTURE RIDER:
The PUMA FUTURE RIDER is not a completely new silhouette from Puma, but rather a reissue of the Puma Fast Rider released in the 80s.
The PUMA FAST RIDER was one of the most popular running shoes of its time and still holds its place as one of PUMA's most innovative silhouettes. So it's no surprise that Puma is launching a contemporary retro with the FUTURE RIDER, with the aim of building on the success of that time.
However, the new PUMA FUTURE RIDER is not just a retro that Puma has now conjured up from the archives. Rather, it is a "1 to 1" reissue that has been equipped with the latest technologies and contemporary updates.
The upper of the PUMA FUTURE RIDER is made of nylon and is spiced up with some high-quality suede overlays. Riderfoam technology was used for the sole, which is designed to provide the wearer with maximum comfort in all conditions. The reconstructed look gives the FUTURE RIDER a neat shape - as you can see in my post from Long Beach. What I find particularly cool about the FUTURE RIDER is the "open" tongue, which catapults the 80s vibe of the silhouette into the modern era.
How does the model fit?
I wear my normal US 11.5 in the PUMA FUTURE RIDER, which I also wear in almost all my other sneakers. At first, the model seems a little tight, but that settles over time. Puma didn't mess around and kept the original shape from back then. That's probably also the reason why the model seems a bit "bulky" at first. But that'll soon disappear, I promise!
Where can I buy the PUMA FUTURE RIDER?
The confirmed retailers for the PUMA FUTURE RIDER include Overkill, asphaltgold, 43einhalb and a few other selected addresses. So if you're interested, mark December 7th as the release day of the FUTURE RIDER in your calendar. Because that's exactly when the colorway already presented here will be released in the stores just mentioned.
The release will of course also be communicated via our new app, which you can download from the respective app stores.
Finally, here are the remaining pictures from our shoot. I hope you like our selection and would be very happy if you would tag us in your "on-feet" pictures of the PUMA FUTURE RIDER. A repost is guaranteed, you can be sure of that!
