Nike Air Force 1 Goddess of Victory: Homage to the Goddess

We've already warned you, this week's sneaker circle sign is Air Force 1's. We really have some new colourways ready for you. With today's model, the Nike brand is honoring its namesake: The Nike Air Force 1 Goddess of Victory is coming soon. We have summarized all information for you.

In case anyone doesn't know, the name of the brand from Orego is inspired one-to-one by Nike[níːkɛː] , the goddess of victory from Greek mythology. The goddess is found throughout the monuments of Athena and Zeus. Supposedly all goddesses wanted to show how victorious they were with her. Nike is the goddess of sport, not war. She is usually depicted with wings, which suggests that she "is" very small.

Why the history lesson? Nike designed the new Air Force 1 with this in mind. The colourway is of course white. The individual panels come in two different leather textures: smooth and striped. The tongue shimmers gray under the laces and the giant wing that encircles the entire tongue. The wings, as you now know, are a tribute to the goddess of victory. The Nike logo is embroidered in Greek script on the left heel and Nike's victory symbol on the right. The insole is also printed in Greek and addresses the pronunciation of the brand Nike [ˈnaɪki] and the origin of the goddess.

All in all, the Nike Air Force 1 Goddess of Victory is a good shoe, although you really have to like the relatively large tongue. Unfortunately, there is currently no official release date.
