Nike Air Max 97 Puerto Rico - The little Silver Bullet brother

Lately most of our announcements are about Jordans, Air Force and Dunks. Of course we are happy that so many new colourways and designs are coming, but every now and then you are just happy about a good old Air Max and especially when it comes to an OG. That's not 100% the case here, but we turn a blind eye and are very happy about the Nike Air Max 97 Puerto Rico. We'll just call it the little brother of the actual OG, the Silver Bullet.

For more than twenty years, Nike has consistently drawn attention to Puerto Ricans living in America. Just in time for the virtual Puerto Rican Day in New York, on June 13th, the brand honors the Puerto Rican "Nuyorican" community with an Air Max 97 that could hardly resemble the Silver Bullet.

The basis of the '97 Puerto Rico is the classic silver colourway of the OG. Of course, there are small but subtle differences that make the model special. The "bonita bandera" (beautiful flag) of Puerto Rico is emblazoned on the tongue. The inlay comes in rich dark blue instead of black. The insole reads, "Aquí Me Quedo" (Here I Stay), a message commemorating the resilience of Puerto Ricans. The usual Air Max logo is embroidered in the colors of the flag on the heel. The outsole also comes in dark blue instead of black and also features the Puerto Rican flag. By the way, each model comes with a towel. It says "Puerto Rico Te Quiero" (Puerto Rico, I love you).

It is currently said that the Nike Air Max 97 Puerto Rico will be released on June 5th at Nike. We will be able to tell you in our release calendar whether the model will also be available in Europe and the usual shops.
