Puma x Overkill - Berlin Air

"Sweat dripping from the ceiling, liters of Berlin air and a rave that was so wild that we are not allowed to report on some things."

This is exactly how the colleagues from Overkill describe one of their most legendary parties, which I was allowed to attend at the time. While I personally don't have many memories of the Puma x Overkill event (shoutout to the "Berliner Luft" team), I've never forgotten how much fun we had that night. Including a half-naked Marc, who completely snapped away on the box on the main floor. Simply legendary!

After almost exactly 5 years, the time has finally come: Puma and Overkill have teamed up to tackle "Volume II" of their Pfeffiboys journey. And the result is actually impressive, because with the Mirage OG and the Puma Disc XS 7000, the parties have chosen two models that are incredibly popular among experienced sneakerheads.

The XS 7000, which appeared in the early 90s, turned the market upside down as the first sports shoe without lacing. Puma then introduced the legendary Disc System, in which an internal wire construction is tightened by turning the disc to ensure the wearer an optimal fit. This technique was an absolute revolution at the time and was particularly popular in the performance area.

Visually, the XS 7000 adhered to the retro edition of Berliner Luft, which was launched as a limited product in 2020 for Schilkin's 70th anniversary. You can see this inspiration especially in the details like the co-branding on the tongue and heel, as well as the design of the disc and the insole. The shoe impresses with a mix of premium suede and mesh, both in a typical mint green.

The Puma Mirage OG saw the light of day in 1990. At that time it was intended as a lifestyle further development of the 70s sprint shoe of the same name, and according to Puma legend Helmut Fischer it is an absolute classic and therefore a perfect flagship for the company from Herzogenaurach.

Here, too, the color of the nylon upper reflects the design of the Berlin air. But in contrast to the XS 7000, there are additional elements of the current bottle, such as the red from the Schilkin logo, which can be found in details such as the lining or the border of the formstripe. You can also find more logo details on the heel, as you can see in the following pictures.

Both models are available on July 08, 2022 at the OVERKILL stand at The Ground Festival (North Entrance, Hammarskjöldplatz, 14055 Berlin) and on July 9th available instore in Berlin & Cologne,

If there is still something left, the remaining quantities will be available on Sunday at 00:00 in the Overkill online shop. The size run of the two models goes from EU36 to EU48.5. Of course, both models come in a specially designed box for the release.
