The first collabo between Reebok and Distinct Life was released a few weeks ago and has now finally found its way to me. The design agency Distinct Life should be familiar to every sneakerhead, as the GL 6000 is not the first collabo with a sportswear manufacturer. In addition to Reebok, there have also been collaborations with Saucony and New Balance in the past. Personally, I liked the 574 from New Balance much better than the Saucony collabo, but that's a different topic and doesn't really matter here... It's often the case that you only realize how good (or bad) a shoe is when you wear it or simply take a good look at it - which I did, of course! I realized relatively quickly that the GL 6000 Distinct Life is a much higher quality shoe compared to the "general release" models. I don't want to devalue the "normal" GL 6000 in any way, after all I own two CW's from the Botte myself. But the many beautiful details alone make the GL 6000 Distinct Life stand out: the upper shines with a very thick, punched smooth leather in combination with a very nice mesh in the toebox area. The mesh is really great and not the thin material we are used to from other models. The typical Reebok stripes on the side are made of a really "wild" suede. It's best if you take a look at the detailed photos, then you'll know what I mean... The Distinct Life lettering can be found on the insole, which incidentally has a camo look. Apart from the lace locks, there are no other indications of a collaboration with the design agency from Detroit. But I think that should be enough, because I'm not a fan of bold logos or lettering on my shoes, and the lace locks are a little too big for my taste. I think the proportions could have been designed a little differently. But as always, it's in the eye of the beholder, and I think that's a controversial point to discuss. Apart from that, the GL 6000 Distinct Life also has a plastic heel construction, which is firmly stitched like the adidas ZX models. The shoe is rounded off with the gum sole, which is preferred by most people in the sneaker scene anyway, and my conclusion on the shoe is as follows: Beautiful materials, which are convincing in combination with some nice details on the shoe, and rather suits dark denims. Incidentally, the GL 6000 Distinct Life is once again a shoe that my boss has nothing to complain about. The high-quality, yet rather inconspicuous look makes the GL 6000 a shoe that I like to wear to the office without having to listen to stupid comments... If you fancy the GL 6000 Distinct Life, you can find it at END Clothing or 43einhalb, for example. Incidentally, the second version of the collaboration between Reebok and Distinct Life is already in the pipeline, featuring a mix of brown suede and mesh....not bad either! P.S.: Our colleague Bassy from Sneakyberlin also took a look at the GL 6000 Distinct Life. For more information on the shoe, you should also take a look there. Here's the report from Sneakyberlin!
