However, given the 40th Anniversary text on the tongue and the atypical branding on the insole, it's more likely that the stars dotted all over the Air Force 1 harken back to a specific detail of the '82 design. The construction underneath the canvas material has a dark navy finish. Together with the "aged" sole, this makes for a convincing version of the AF1.
