KangaROOS x Glory Hole Ultimate R1 Reeperbahn

The KangaROOS x Glory Hole Ultimate R1 Reeperbahn is a collaboration with the popular store from Hamburg that fits the theme perfectly. A strong release!

Named after the 18th century rope makers, the so-called Reepschlägern, the 800-metre-long street developed a notorious reputation in the wild 1920s among locals and sailors from all over the world for its unbridled nightlife with live music, dance clubs and all forms of adult entertainment.

After the Second World War, sex, drugs & rock'n'roll conquered the Reeperbahn, crowned by the career launch of the Beatles in the early 1960s. The feeling of boundless freedom always shared the neighborhood with sensational crimes and powerful gangsters, some of them legends beyond death to this day.

Times change...and so, despite the upheaval, some legendary institutions of the neighborhood have survived the change almost unscathed. These include historic places such as the ZUR RITZE pub, which achieved world fame with its famous splayed legs in front of the door and is still an institution on the Reeperbahn. The windowless backyard pub houses a fully equipped boxing club in the basement, which is still in daily use today.

In the early 1980s, the pub was a center of the milieu and became the scene of deadly shootouts, while internationally renowned fighters completed their training camps in the boxing gym below and prepared for their fights there.

Together with Hamburg's top sneaker store Glory Hole, we are releasing this collabo based on the Ultimate. The upper is crafted from the finest nappa leather and perforated calf nubuck by Hummel & Hummel - 100% made in Germany. The breathable velvet lining mirrors the characteristic colors of the Reeperbahn. The tried-and-tested DYNACOIL cushioning system was used.

The collaboration is a tribute to the golden era of St.Pauli & its people, who were magically attracted to the red light and the promise of sin.

The official release date of the KangaROOS is this week, on March 7, 2020 to be precise. It starts at 00:00 in the stores listed here!

Where can I buy the KangaROOS x Glory Hole Ultimate R1 Reeperbahn?

If you are really planning to buy the Made in Germany KangaROOS, I think you can be relatively relaxed. The shoe is great and superbly made. Nevertheless, we are of the opinion that it is definitely within the realm of possibility to get hold of this sneaker.

Stores confirmed for this release so far include asphaltgold, Overkill, afew, 43einhalb and a few other stores, all of which will have the KangaROOS in their range. The Footshop from the Czech Republic should also be added. However, the information will probably follow before the release.
