In 2022, Nike was more reluctant to release many inline colourways of the Nike Cortez. The pair that's out now eschews the predominant leather in favor of a hairy suede material on most of the upper. Leather is found around the heel and on the tread swooshes. These elements are kept in brown. Underfoot, the serrated sole, which debuted in 1972, features contrasting orange flair, underscoring the Nike Cortez's autumnal styling. Finally, traction takes on a semi-transparent Sail finish that gives the shoe an aged look.
