What exactly is a midsole? In this article, we explain and show you what a sneaker midsole is:
The midsole is the part of the shoe sole that lies between the rubber part and the upper shoe construction. The midsole often provides cushioning and comfort and sometimes also houses various functional elements.
Depending on the design, the midsole can be subtle or exaggerated, such as on the Nike KD 8. Popular materials for midsoles include EVA, Vibram or Boost. Due to their soft nature, they are combined with a midsole to protect them from wear and tear. The midsole of the Ultra Boost is probably the best known at adidas, while Nike often relies on a midsole with Air technology.
